Is AI art prompting artistic?

Nope.

This 5 word prompt generated the image below. What continues to surprise me is not the interesting outcome of that sentence, it’s the illusion that people are under that they are creating things themselves. They are not. In fact, anyone capable of spelling is now in a position to call themselves an “Artist”. A title that cannot be claimed by people who pay a service to create things for them.

I am disappointed that more real Artists in the NFT community are not brave enough to speak out about this. Most are afraid of the negative backlash of opposing the effect that AI art is having on the careers of real Artists (just like them). Some even believe that real Art will prevail over AI art in the end. To those people, I submit this image that was conjured from a description. Is this person an Artist? Who knows. None of their personal ability is present here.

A person did not create this. I person did not pose for this.(2023)

Fact:

If you use AI to make art, you’re not an AI Artist. You’re an AI Art Director.
